Feminism
Feminism, that word that has grown ever common over the last few years in our modern society. I hear people talking about these issues of social and gender equality and I think, "Didn't we leave those behind in the twentieth century? Aren't we a more progressive world today where not just women, but all people are treated the same way, with respect?" But the reality of the matter is that while we have made strides there are instances of unfair treatment today. Now there are tons of people I know that think feminists don't know what they are talking about and everybody is equal and in some extreme cases it is hard to disagree. Now I am talking about the activists made infamous by social media who claim common acts of courtesy such as being polite and holding the door open is sexist and degrading to girls. I personally believe and I know most people will agree with me that this is just an example of being respectful to another person. In my opinion anyone is perfectly able to be polite to anyone regardless of sex, race, age, ethnicity, etc. I know many feminists would agree with me when I say there are inequalities still in this world, and not just of sex, but everyone deserves to have the same rights, liberties, and opportunities. Do we need women to be equal? Yes they deserve this. But as human beings, all people deserve this right and both sexes need to treat each other with equality.

Robert I agree with you on most all of your points like how holding the door open for women or giving up your seat for a women, I personally do both of those things all the time and I do them because I respect the people I do it for and I sometime do it for men too. I show my respect to people because I want to make their day better not because I think they can't do something on their own.
